Rest Stop
Two weeks ago, the NorCal AIDS Challenge took place. It's a 325-mile bike ride to raise money and awareness to fight AIDS. This was the second year for this event, and the second year that Fairview Community Christian Church was the site for one of the rest stops.
Down the street from the church, the organizers posted a "rest stop ahead" sign. However, no one removed the sign once the race was over. I had decided to stop and remove it myself the next time I drove by, but then I heard a church member comment that she's come to appreciate the sign, because even though she's elderly and doesn't ride a bike, she thinks of the church as a place of rest in many ways.
So now I've decided to leave the sign. It will be interesting to see how long it stays.
