Fires
It's a day to stay indoors. The sky is filled with smoke. The sun is casting an orange glow. Ashes are falling from the sky.
It seems that the fires get worse every year. The rains are more infrequent, and development continues to encroach upon fire-prone areas. This weekend, hundreds of homes have been destroyed.
My son tells me that the toy in the picture is called the Toa of Light. He spent some time playing with these toys today after I told him it wasn't a good day to be outside. The Toa's light has an orange tint to it today.
The fire is over twenty miles away. Hopefully it will be out soon.
