Where We Live

Two weeks ago, we moved into our new home. I haven't mentioned that because, well, there's been lots of other stuff going on. Not to mention the unpacking.

Here's a picture of it. It's less than a mile from church, on a quiet street and next door to a place that sells smoothies. It has hardwood floors and no carpet, which we are happy about. It has a yard that wraps around two sides of the house, which Saydee is happy about.

Technically, the house is in Signal Hill. Signal Hill a separate city that is entirely surrounded by the city of Long Beach. So, technically, I can tell people that I live "in" Long Beach, and it would be the truth, since Signal Hill is in Long Beach. Plus, we're so far on the edge of Signal Hill that I could stand on my front porch and spit (if I felt so inclined), and it would land in Long Beach. However, I'm told that people in Signal Hill would never say that they live in Long Beach.

So we live in Signal Hill.

Which is in Long Beach.

An island city within a city. Here in northern NJ one city just runs right into another one. In fact, I've read that NJ is the only state to be 100% urbanized in the country. There are rural areas, but apparently EVERYPLACE is technically within city limits of some city.

Welcome to Signal Hill/ Long Beach! I'm in Redondo Beach/ Torrance. We'll have to meet up for coffee sometime when you're settled. :-)
