Hike Report: Rocky Peak

It's been a few days since I've posted; how about a hike report?

Today David and I went to Rocky Peak. The trail begins right at the 118 freeway where it enters Simi Valley. Or it could be where it leaves Simi Valley, depending on which way you're traveling.

It was cool, cloudy and breezy today, hints of an approaching rainstorm. The lack of sun was a blessing, though, since there are no trees on this trail. Well, except for this one:

It was about 2.5 miles to Rocky Peak. Unfortunately, that wasn't far enough to escape the freeway noise. But the rocks were fun to climb on.

That's me above; David is in the picture below.

David and I hiked another 3 miles or so (to a spot where we could no longer hear or see the freeway). After a short rest, we retraced our steps back over Rocky Peak and down to where we had left David's vehicle. It was a nice hike, but every hike David and I have done so far has taken us up a mountain where we could see the San Fernando Valley. We've now seen the valley from four different angles. We decided that next time, we're going someplace where we can't see the city.

Hi, Mom!
