Bike Ride

On Monday, I will be participating in a 25 mile bike ride. It is sponsored by the local interfaith group, and is a fundraiser for the group as well as for local congregations.

I figured I could do the ride since I've been riding my bike. Or at least I was. Church isn't that far away, so the ride there and back is not much of a workout.

So last week, I rode my bike up Signal Hill. (Yes, there really is a hill in the city of Signal Hill.) I discovered what the lowest gear on my bike was for. And I had to stop and catch my breath twice, even though it's really not that big of a hill, at least not by California standards.

A few days later, I rode up the hill again. This time, I only stopped for breath once. Then yesterday, I went for an 8-mile ride that had no hills, but did cover part of the route I'll be taking on Monday.

Oh, and by the way, I'm still looking for sponsors.

make sure you have good brakes for the trip back down
