Last Day of School

It's here. The last day of school. Ethan brought home his report card, and it says that even though he's just finished 2nd grade, his reading level is that of someone who has just finished 5th grade. That kid loves to read, and I couldn't be prouder! ... We're already counting down the days to July 16, when the next Harry Potter book comes out.

Tonight at 7:00pm, commencement ceremonies take place at the high school down the street. All 60 members of the class of 2005 will walk across the platform set up on the football field and receive their diplomas. Their names will be called, perhaps with an occasional pause or two as the train rumbles past behind them.

Afterward, there is a Grad Nite party that has been organized for them. I volunteered to help out, and was told yesterday to arrive at midnight and to plan to stay until about 5:00 tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow, during the day, I'll be sleeping.
